Construction company Hickory approached Blue Diamond Machinery in search of a temporary power solution for their ‘Greystar’ built-to-rent project in Melbourne. The solution needed to comfortably power various alimak’s between the site’s two apartment towers, while taking into consideration the noise restrictions of residential areas.

ConstructionBlue Diamond supplied Hickory with the Battery Energy Storage System Units. Providing a stable source of power, the BESS units comfortably powered the sites’ 2x twin Alimak’s with minimal noise pollution or CO2 emissions.
BESS have a carbon footprint 70-90% lower than diesel generators. They can power up any type of construction equipment, but are particularly well-suited to operating high-draw power equipment such as Alimak’s and tower cranes.
Battery Energy Storage Systems are extremely self-sufficient and require little maintenance. Live performance data is also easily accessible through the web portal, giving Hickory key performance indicators on energy consumption throughout the day.

Reducing reliance on diesel generators, it is estimated the BESS have saved approximately 120,000L of diesel on the project to date. Not only is this a cost benefit for Hickory, but also an environmental benefit through the reduction in diesel exhaust, improving the safety of workers.
With a noise footprint significantly less when compared with a diesel generator, BESS also allowed Hickory to meet their power requirements while keeping noise to a minimum for nearby residents.
Blue Diamond Machinery is proud to pioneer these clean power solutions in Australia. If you’re looking for sustainable, efficient power for your next project, we’re here to help.
