BESS Powers Erben’s Cirque Duet – WA’s First 5 Star Green Star Rated Building

Sustainability focused developer Erben adopted a 500kW Battery Storage System (BESS) Unit as a diesel-free solution for their Cirque Duet residential apartment development in Mount Pleasant.

Client:

Erben

Location:

Mount Pleasant, WA

Sectors:

Construction

The Challenge

Limited Site Access, Fuel Logistics, Air & Noise Pollution Restrictions

Erben was looking for a sustainable solution to not only achieve a 5 star Green Star rating, but to also solve their everyday on-site challenges. The solution needed to address restrictive site access, fuel logistics, noise and carbon pollution.

Disruptive noise pollution & fumes for neighbouring buildings

Limited space on-site

Restrictive access for refuelling & servicing

The Solution

The Battery Energy Storage System(BESS) Unit

Acting as a replacement for large diesel generators, Battery Energy Storage Systems aim to eliminate noise and air pollution challenges for construction sites. BESS units adopt a compact design that is ideal for the site’s restrictive access, while the lithium-ion battery technology removes the hassle of disruptive refuelling and fuel logistics. The unit also features an EnerNet analytics platform for simple remote monitoring.

Access key insights into on-site power consumption, fuel savings & CO2 emissions

Experience 70-90% lower carbon emissions

Significantly quieter than diesel generators

Able to deploy in restrictive on-site spaces

The Outcome

7000L Diesel Fuel Savings Per Month & A 5 Star Green Star Rating

The 500kW Battery Energy Storage unit provided the Cirque Duet development with access to a low-carbon drop-in solution to replace diesel as baseload power. It helped Erben achieve WA’s first 5 Star Green Star rated residential building. The BESS unit’s compact design also went on to solve on-site obstacles like restrictive access challenges, while eliminating noise and air pollution disruption and solving fuel logistics hassles.

This Battery Powered Energy Solution is estimated to reduce carbon emissions on the project by nearly 12 tonnes per month – an equivalent saving of 7000 litres of diesel per month.
