Film sets require significant power- particularly for lighting and accommodation in off-grid locations. The client was seeking a solution that was not only quiet and capable of delivering reliable 24/7 power, but also environmentally sensitive. Since filming was taking place in natural and heritage-listed environments, it was essential to find an energy source that met these demands without disrupting the surroundings.
Hydrogen Takes the Spotlight on Set: GEH2 Hydrogen Generator Powers Major Australian TV Production

Media ProductionmIn an industry first, Blue Diamond Machinery provided the client with the EODev GEH2 Hydrogen Generator.
Delivering 100kVA of clean, quiet and zero-emission power, the GEH2 was brought in to power the unit base and production hub on set. The only output from the GEH2 is water and a little heat, making it an ideal power solution for sites in noise and emission sensitive areas.

By using the GEH2, the client was able to save over 300 litres of diesel in just 24 hours. This significant fuel saving results in lower costs and a reduced environmental footprint in naturally protected filming locations- all while consistently delivering the power needed on set.
With growing pressure on the film industry to adopt cleaner energy solutions, the EODev GEH2 hydrogen fuel cell aims to set a new standard for sustainable power at future film and production sites.
Blue Diamond supports every hydrogen rollout with technical guidance, risk assessments and hands-on field integration. This case study casts the spotlight on what sustainable power can look like on film sets.
