The Event

2024 VAILO Adelaide 500

Now in its 25th year, the 2024 VAILO Adelaide 500 is Australia’s largest domestic ticketed motorsport event. Attracting over 250,000 patrons over four days, it includes many events such as driver autograph sessions, exotic vehicle displays, sideshows, family entertainment and more.

This year, Blue Diamond Machinery were proud to showcase our GEH2 Hydrogen generator on the event grounds in Norwood, South Australia.

The Solution

The GEH2 Hydrogen Generator

Blue Diamond Machinery provided several EODev GEH2 hydrogen generators to power screens and a new ‘Hydrogen Hub’ at the event. As mains power was unavailable onsite, the GEH2 provided a sustainable, renewable energy alternative to diesel generators.

The GEH2 Hydrogen Generator delivers 80kW of power without CO2 emissions, particulate matter or noise, only emitting water and a little vapour. It is a completely clean, consistent alternative for almost any application that would otherwise rely on a 100kVA diesel generator.

The Outcome

Completely Quiet, Zero Emission Event Power

The GEH2 successfully powered up the event spaces with clean power and no interruptions over the 4-day period. Patrons were able to enjoy the activation areas without diesel fumes or noisy generators. Utilising the GEH2 not only allowed the event to reduce its overall greenhouse gas emissions, but educate the public on the benefits and uses of hydrogen.

The VAILO Adelaide 500 is South Australia’s largest event to utilise hydrogen generators. The activation represents a significant milestone for the industry, demonstrating the potential of hydrogen as a replacement for diesel in the events sector.

Blue Diamond Machinery look forward to contributing towards events and community organisations in the local community in the future. We offer a range of low and zero emission technologies to help the events sector decarbonise and meet their CO2 reduction targets.
